This wooden pier in Mount Pleasant, now know as the Pitt Street Bridge, extends to Cove Inlet & was built in 1898 to serve as a trolley bridge allowing passage to and from Sullivan’s Island.

Dating back to before the Revolutionary War, this bridge was once the only means of crossing the water from Mount Pleasant to Sullivans Island beaches.
