One Confederate report dated January 19, 1865, notes that the Church Flats Battery was armed with two 12-pound smoothbore cannon and one 8-inch siege howitzer. a Confederate soldier, Conrad Wise Chapman, painted Church Flats Battery in 1863. The original painting is in the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond, Virginia, a picture of the painting is included in the media on this listing. Per South Carolina Battleground Preservation Trust, the owners of this property can clear all the growth off the battery (Except healthy Hardwoods) which will improve the vista of the river, and they will assist at no charge with how to care and preserve this site.
