Charleston's Upper Peninsula is an area that has undergone significant redevelopment and revitalization in recent years. It offers a vibrant mix of residential, commercial, and cultural spaces. Here are some of the neighborhoods you can explore in Charleston's Upper Peninsula.

North Central - one of my absolute favorite Charleston areas, North Central is a neighborhood that has experienced rapid growth and transformation. It features a diverse community and a range of housing options, including renovated historic homes and new construction. This area is also home to several local businesses, art galleries, and popular dining spots. Stop by the Record Stop Charleston on upper King Street to peruse the vintage vinyl, then head to nearby Graft Wine Shop for a glass of vino.

NoMo (North Morrison) - NoMo is a thriving district located along Morrison Drive. It has become a hub for creative industries, with numerous art studios, design firms, and tech companies calling it home. NoMo is also known for its trendy restaurants, breweries, and event spaces.  A drop by Santi's Restaurante Mexicano is a must when you are in the neighborhood!

Hampton Park Terrace - Hampton Park Terrace is a charming residential neighborhood known for its beautiful historic homes and tree-lined streets. The centerpiece of the neighborhood is Hampton Park, a large green space with walking paths, duck ponds, and a rose garden . It's a great area for a leisurely stroll or a picnic or check out cozy Harold's Cabin for the best burger in town!

Wagener Terrace - Located along the Ashley River, Wagener Terrace is a highly sought-after neighborhood with a mix of residential and commercial properties. It offers stunning views of the river and the nearby Lowndes Grove Plantation. You'll find a variety of architectural styles in Wagener Terrace, including bungalows, cottages, and mid-century modern homes. Stop in at Park and Grove for lunch or

Eastside - The Eastside neighborhood is a vibrant and diverse area with a rich history. It's located east of the Charleston Peninsula and is known for its community-oriented atmosphere. You'll find colorful houses, local businesses, and a lively culinary scene. The Eastside is also home to the historic Cigar Factory building, which has been transformed into a mixed use development. Stop in Hannibal's Kitchen for lunch - this cozy family owned restaurant specializes in Southern seafood dishes .

Westside - Located south of Hampton Park, Westside has experienced significant growth and revitalization. It offers a mix of residential, commercial, and industrial spaces and has a nice urban feel! The area has seen the opening of new restaurants (DAPS is one of our favorites for breakfast!), breweries, and entertainment venues. It's a neighborhood worth exploring!

As you explore Charleston's Upper Peninsula neighborhoods, You'll discover a blend of history, culture, and modern developments. From the charming streets of Hampton Park Terrace to the bustling energy of NoMo, there's something for everyone to enjoy in this dynamic part of the city!
